The rest of the day is yours to unwind or begin exploring Lima, known as the culinary capital of South America. We recommend sampling some of the city’s incredible local flavors at your leisure.
After breakfast, set out to explore Lima on a City Tour. This tour offers a glimpse into the city’s rich contrasts: colonial heritage, modern flair, and ancient roots.
With your English-speaking guide, visit the historic city center, including the Cathedral, Main Square, and the haunting Catacombs of the San Francisco Convent. Then, discover the contemporary side of Lima in the upscale districts of San Isidro and Miraflores.
The afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace – whether indulging in Lima’s world-renowned cuisine or experiencing its dynamic nightlife.
At the designated time in the morning you will be picked up and taken to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, a Peru & U representative will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the Sacred Valley. Its lower elevation makes it the perfect place to begin acclimating, all while taking in the region’s breathtaking Andean landscapes.
On the way to your hotel, your first stop is a local llama and alpaca farm, where you’ll interact with these iconic animals, learn about their cultural role, and observe traditional weaving techniques using their wool.
Continue to the historic town of Pisac and its impressive archaeological site. Explore ancient Inca terraces and ruins as your guide shares the site’s fascinating history and significance.
Afterward, enjoy a lunch made with fresh, local ingredients, then head to your hotel. The evening is free for you to relax and acclimate in the peaceful setting of the Sacred Valley.
Today, you’ll visit two of the Sacred Valley’s most remarkable sites: the Maras Salt Mines and the Moray Circular Terraces.
Start with the stunning Maras Salt Mines, over 3,000 shimmering ponds carved into the mountainside, still harvested by local families using centuries-old techniques. This dazzling patchwork of white and gold is both visually striking and culturally rich.
Next, explore the fascinating Moray terraces, a masterpiece of Inca agricultural engineering. These circular depressions created microclimates that allowed for advanced crop experimentation, showcasing the ingenuity of Inca innovation.
After a morning of exploration, enjoy lunch at a delicious restaurant in the Sacred Valley.
Following lunch, transfer to Ollantaytambo to board the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town). Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and prepare for your visit to Machu Picchu tomorrow.

You’ll arrive in Cusco by evening, with the rest of the day free to relax or explore the charming cobblestone streets of this historic city at your own pace.
Today begins with an early pickup from your hotel for a 2.5-hour drive to the village of Mollepata, where you’ll enjoy a warm breakfast. From there, continue to Soraypampa, the starting point of the Salkantay Trek, with stunning views of the Salkantay and Humantay mountains.
The hike to Humantay Lake takes about 1.5 hours at a moderate pace. For those who prefer, horses are available to rent (at an additional cost). At the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the emerald lake, surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Take time for photos, an optional offering to Pachamama (Mother Earth), and take in the incredible scenery.
After some rest, descend back to Soraypampa, where a hearty lunch awaits. Then return to Cusco, with the evening free to relax or explore at your leisure.
Alternatively, choose to hike to the iconic Vinicunca, Peru’s Rainbow Mountain where mineral-rich sediments paint the landscape in striking natural colors.
After breakfast at your hotel, a Peru & U representative will escort you to the bus station, where you’ll board a comfortable tourist coach bound for Puno. This scenic journey across the Altiplano – an expansive, high-altitude plateau shared by Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile – is considered one of the most beautiful routes in the country.
Along the way, enjoy several cultural and scenic stops, including fascinating museums, ancient Inca ruins, and traditional Andean villages. These breaks offer a deeper insight into the region’s rich heritage, and a chance to stretch your legs!
A highlight of the trip is reaching the route’s highest point at 4,319 meters (14,170 feet), where you can pause to take in the breathtaking views and capture unforgettable photos.

After a nourishing breakfast, set off on a full-day journey across the shimmering waters of Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake and the largest in South America. Steeped in myth and cultural richness, the lake is home to communities with ancient traditions and unique ways of life.
Your first stop is the remarkable floating reed islands of the Uros people. Built entirely from totora reeds, these man-made islands were originally created as a refuge from hostile neighbors. You’ll be warmly welcomed by the Uros community, who will share their fascinating history, demonstrate how they construct the islands, and offer a ride on one of their traditional reed boats.
Next, continue to Taquile Island, where life has remained largely unchanged for generations. Here, you’ll gain insight into the islanders’ sustainable way of living, rooted in farming, weaving, and community. Enjoy a guided walk as your local guide shares the island’s customs and traditions, followed by a delicious lunch made from locally grown ingredients.
In the afternoon, return to Puno with unforgettable memories of a day immersed in the spirit and soul of the Andes.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the bus station to begin your journey to Copacabana, Bolivia. As you cross to the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca, enjoy breathtaking views and the unique atmosphere of this sacred region.
Upon arrival in Copacabana, you’ll visit the legendary Sun Island, revered in Andean mythology as the birthplace of the Sun God and the Inca civilization. Soak in the island’s tranquil beauty and spiritual energy before continuing your journey by coach to La Paz.
Upon arrival in La Paz, a local representative will meet you and take you to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore this one-of-a-kind city, full of dramatic landscapes, vibrant markets, and rich culture.
Your guide will meet you at your hotel to begin your city tour with a visit to the famous Witches’ Market, known for its traditional medicines and mystical artifacts. Continue to Plaza Murillo to see key landmarks including the Cathedral, Government Palace, and National Congress.
Stroll down the colonial Calle Jaén, home to quaint museums, then visit a replica of a Tiwanaku temple, offering insight into ancient Andean civilizations. Explore modern La Paz through the neighborhoods of Obrajes, Calacoto, and La Florida.
End the tour at the otherworldly Moon Valley, where wind-sculpted clay formations create a surreal landscape.
Enjoy the afternoon at leisure. In the evening, transfer to the bus station for your overnight journey to Uyuni.
Upon your early morning arrival in Uyuni, enjoy breakfast and some time to warm up before the tour begins in the late morning.
Our two-day adventure starts with a visit to the Train Cemetery, where rusted locomotives from the 1940s tell the story of Uyuni’s mining past. Next, explore Colchani, a small village where locals sell handcrafted salt-based products.
From there, we enter the Uyuni Salt Flats (3,663 m / 12,018 ft), an endless white landscape covering over 10,000 square kilometers. Along the way, you’ll see iconic sites like the salt pyramids and the world’s first salt hotel.
Continue to Incahuasi Island, famous for its towering cacti and fossil-studded rock formations rising out of the salt. As the day winds down, we head to the remote village of Coqueza, where you’ll enjoy dinner and a peaceful overnight stay.
Rise early to catch a breathtaking sunrise over the salt flats, a truly unforgettable moment. After breakfast in Coquesa, visit a unique stone animal museum, showcasing local geology and creativity.
Continue to the Tunupa Volcano, a striking landmark rising from the vast whiteness of the flats. Enjoy a short hike to the natural mummies, preserved remains of ancient inhabitants who perished while fleeing a volcanic eruption centuries ago.
Return to Coquesa for lunch, then head back to Uyuni, where you’ll have some time to relax or explore. In the evening, board your overnight bus back to La Paz.
You’ll arrive early in La Paz and transfer directly to your hotel. Today is yours to rest and recharge after your overnight journey or to explore more of this one-of-a-kind city, rich in culture, color, and altitude.
