Upon arrival in Cusco, a Peru & U representative will greet you at the airport and transfer you to the Sacred Valley. Its lower elevation makes it the perfect place to begin acclimating, all while taking in the region’s breathtaking Andean landscapes.
Your first stop is a local llama and alpaca farm, where you’ll interact with these iconic animals, learn about their cultural role, and observe traditional weaving techniques using their wool.
Continue to the historic town of Pisac and its impressive archaeological site. Explore ancient Inca terraces and ruins as your guide shares the site’s fascinating history and significance.
Afterward, enjoy a lunch made with fresh, local ingredients, then head to your hotel. The evening is free for you to relax and acclimate in the peaceful setting of the Sacred Valley.
After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be picked up for a visit to the historic Chinchero Archaeological Site (3,762m), once a royal retreat of Inca Tupac Yupanqui. Explore its impressive ruins, including intricate aqueducts and terraces, set against a backdrop of majestic Andean peaks.
Next, head to the striking Maras Salt Mines, a stunning patchwork of over 3,000 salt ponds carved into the mountainside. These centuries-old pools are still harvested by local families using traditional methods.

Today, dive into the rich history of Cusco with a guided city tour. Begin with a visit to Qoricancha, once the Inca Empire’s most sacred temple, later transformed into the Convent of Santo Domingo. Admire the stunning blend of Inca stonework and colonial architecture.
Continue to the Cusco Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas, home to a remarkable collection of colonial and Andean art.

Today, set out early to discover one of Peru’s most iconic natural wonders: Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain. Its vibrant colors are created by mineral deposits exposed through erosion and tectonic uplift, making it a truly unforgettable sight.
You’ll be picked up from your hotel around 5:30 a.m. for the drive to the trailhead. The hike to the viewpoint is relatively short and gentle, though the high altitude adds some challenge to the inclines. Along the way, enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Andes, including the Red Valley and snow-capped peaks.
After reaching the summit and taking in the stunning landscape, you’ll descend and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch before returning to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 p.m.
